Teacher Job Description

Teacher will report directly to the Supervisor/Lead Teacher and MUI Director.

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Work collaboratively with assistants and aides.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Participate in department, school, organization and parent meetings.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare the classroom daily for class activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by MUI NYC’s organizational policies and regulations.
  • Communicate and establish clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.

Teacher Job Assistant Description

Teacher Aide Job Description:

Teacher will report directly to the assigned teacher and MUI Director.

  • Assist assigned teachers with the implementation of lesson plans.
  • Assist the teacher in arranging the learning environment, including assembling and putting materials on bulletin boards and/or other classroom learning displays and in keeping such displays current.
  • Tutor individual or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing, typing, copying and filing instructional materials.  Grade student tests and assignments, recording of grades and attendance, lunch reports and maintaining student records and files as assigned.
  • Assist the teacher with the supervision of students during non-instructional times, such as emergency drills, assemblies, cafeteria, restrooms, field trips, hallways, playground and bus loading / unloading activities.
  • Assist with lunch, snacks and other clean-up duties, as assigned.
  • Assure the health and safety of students by following established learning environment in a safe, orderly, and clean manner.
  • Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved procedures.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.

Security Officer Job Description:

The security personnel reports directly to the FOI Captain/1st Officer and MUI Assistant Director.

 

  • Assume overall responsibility for the safety and security of MUI NYC staff and students
  • Patrol designated areas in accordance with outlined security procedures
  • Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly
  • Report all breach of security incidents immediately to the FOI Captain, Assistant Director and their designee
  • Ensure all employees and visitors have proper credentials for accessing buildings (ID badges and passes)
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents within designated areas promptly and according to policy
  • Assist employees and visitors with any security related concerns they might have
  • Report emergency situations to law enforcement as needed **
  • Ability to perform continuous physical exertion as needed
  • Working knowledge of basic security techniques

Maintenance Custodian Job Description

The maintenance custodian reports directly to the FOI Captain/1st Officer and Assistant Director.

 

  • Empty and clean trash receptacles and collect recycling
  • Empty trash receptacles in the kitchen daily, after breakfast and after lunch
  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, meeting rooms, hallway/foyer, kitchen, and stairwells
  • Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms
  • Clean and service custodial equipment as needed
  • Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and equipment
  • Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department
  • Ensure grounds areas are clean and orderly-including the outside area of the mosque
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work
  • Ability to work independently
